Description of the area:

The Hotel 1492 is in the Escalante neighborhood in the heart of San José, which is the last residential area in the neo-colonial style of the capital of Costa Rica. From the hotel you can walk to the National Museum, the National Theatre, the Pre-Columbian Gold Museum, and the center of San José. In the hotel's neighborhood you will find the Calderón Guardia Museum, important art galleries, restaurants, popular theatres, and cafes.
