Add a Tourism Business

Thank you for your interest in joining the Eco-Index of Sustainable Tourism! Participating is easy, just follow these simple steps:

1. Download the questionnaire in the language of your choice:

2. Answer the questions as completely as possible, according to the type of business you have.
3. Save the completed questionnaire on your computer.
4. Send the document, as an attachment, via e-mail to tourism@eco-index.org.
Please note: by submitting photos to the Eco-Index of Sustainable Tourism, the business representative agrees that the Rainforest Alliance is permitted to post the photos on the site and to use them for promotional purposes, providing that all photo credits are given to the business. Due to the public nature of the site, we can not guarantee unauthorized use of the photos by third parties.

Remember that in order to add your business:

1. It should have sustainable tourism certification.

2. If it is not certified, you must provide us with a reference that we will contact as a recommendation verifying your sustainable practices.

Acceptable recommendations include:

  • Members of the Sustainable Tourism Certification Network of the Americas
  • NGOs and local or regional organizations (active in the area where the business is located) that are dedicated to sustainable resource management, sustainable tourism development, or local socioeconomic development.
  • University departments / learning institutions that have knowledge about the subject of sustainable tourism.
  • Ministries of the environment or tourism; local governments.

    • Don’t forget to include with the recommendation an institutional, verifiable Web page and email (i.e. XXX@ong.org). We prefer that emails are not gmail, hotmail, yahoo, or other similar addresses.

    We cannot accept recommendations from:

    • Individuals, even if they are experts in the subject.
    • Tour operators or other private enterprises that might benefit from the promotion of the business in question.

    And finally, don’t forget – this site is currently just for businesses located in Latin America and the Caribbean.
