Description of the area:
Hotel El Establo, your home on the mountain, is in the heart of the tourist zone of Monteverde, Costa Rica on Cerro Plano, only 4.5 km (2.8 miles) from the Monteverde Biological Reserve, 9 km (5.6 miles) from the Santa Elena Biological Reserve, 2 km (1.2 miles) from the Eternal Children’s Rainforest Park, and 1 km (0.6 miles) from the center of Santa Elena.
Hotel El Establo, was established in 1991 with a story behind its name, and the effort of a family that changed its cattle for tourism.
It all started transforming the farm’s stable into 12 cosy rooms. Today, 17 years later and with 155 rooms, there are only memories of the cattle; but the desire to offer the highest quality service to all our clients and suppliers still remains.
Hotel El Establo and its staff have now a serious commitment with nature and the community, in always looking for the best human and environmental development for the area.

How to get there:
There are no access limitations to the region, but the use of four-wheel drive vehicles is preferable.
Making a difference:
As an important part of its operation, the Hotel El Establo is continuing with the conservationist tradition of its Quaker origins. Today, more than 80% of the property area is covered with plants and forest.
Our hotel is characterized by having a great interest in preserving nature and the environment. This is the reason why we are practicing a special Environmental Management System which is allowing us to stand out in our region. Our desire is for everyone close to us, to share this important and necessary practice of preserving the biodiversity of our ecosystem.
We have three latest generation water treatment plants and our energy resources are managed by a highly efficient computerized system.
