Description of the area:

We are in the north central zone of Costa Rica, between Puerto Viejo and La Virgen de Sarapiquí in the province of Heredia. The combination of high biological diversity, comfortable lodging, and easy access from San José, Arenal, or Limón, make ours a perfect destination. We have four hectares (10 acres) of regenerated farm land, an area reforested with native trees, natural forest on the river banks, and a marvelous tropical garden with many heliconias, gingers, palms, and flowering trees.

We have trails that go to the Sardinal River, the Butterfly Garden, the Land of the Frogs, the Botanical Garden, the Vegetable Garden, the ponds, and the Barn. More than 100 of the 850 bird species found in Costa Rica have been identified at La Quinta.

There are a large number of activities available here and in nearby places: scenic cruises and rafting on the majestic Sarapiquí River, excursions through the rainforest at the La Selva Biological Station next to Braulio Carrillo National Park, excursions on horseback, aerial tramway, and night excursions to the forest.

Available activities:

Adventure, sports
Biking
Bird watching
Canopy exploration
Eco / nature / wildlife
Educational, research, volunteering
Horseback riding
Mountain climbing
River rafting
Tours
Visits to conservation projects
Walking / hiking
Wellness, health, spa

How to get there:

You can reach La Quinta from San José by two different routes, from the west or from the east via Braulio Carrillo National Park. You can come one way and leave by the other so as not to travel the same route twice. Travel time is approximately two hours for the 96 kilometer (60 mile) trip.

We are located in Bajos de Chilamate in Sarapiqui, 12 km (7.5 miles) beyond Puerto Viejo de Sarapiqui if coming from Braulio Carrillo or 5 km (3 miles) beyond La Virgen de Sarapiqui if coming from Vara Blanca. Our sign is on the highway, practically in front of the business called Comisariato Las Brisas. La Quinta is 1.2 km (0.75 miles) off the highway on a paved road that is passable in any vehicle year-round.

Our destination is accessible by land year-round in any kind of vehicle.
