Description of the area:
Arenal Adventure World is a tropical ecology park committed to environmental protection that offers visitors an original way of interacting with the tropical rainforest, combining adventure activities with educational and cultural ones.
Our tours offer you the irresistible experience of connecting with the natural environment and enjoying natural wonders such as the Pino Blanco and La Fortuna waterfalls and the active Arenal volcano. Arenal Adventure World also lets you become acquainted with indigenous Maleku culture and the natural history of the forest.
We offer a variety of activities to our clients: Canopy tours (uniquely designed with a 3,214-foot zipline and platforms at ground level instead of in the trees); rappelling; natural history day-hikes; night hikes; bird-watching; horseback rides to the La Fortuna waterfall, visits to the Maleku village; and visits to a frog aquarium, a butterfly garden, and a nursery, never forgetting that our activities are carried out in complete harmony with the environment with firm principles for safety and quality.
Our tours are a combination of several activities in one. For example, the canopy tour includes a wagon ride, a visit to the Pino Blanco lookout, a hike in the primary forest, 10 canopy ziplines, and visits to the Maleku village, frog aquarium, and butterfly garden.
At our park tourists can enjoy three natural wonders (Costa Rican icons) in one place: the Pino Blanco waterfall (which can only be seen within the park), the La Fortuna waterfall, and Arenal Volcano. Our Canopy adventure circuit includes the longest zipline in the nation. The Villa Maleku community in the park is unique. The Maleku people are one of the few indigenous groups remaining in Costa Rica and we are fortunate to be able to share a little bit of their culture with our visitors.

How to get there:
The Arenal Adventure World park installations are on a paved national highway, accessible in any kind of vehicle.
The installations are always open for visits, thanks to their easy access and the favorable weather conditions that occur in this zone year-round.
Making a difference:
Arenal Adventure World has an average of 35 workers on its payroll, 25 of whom are heads of family; the workers carry out tasks from farming to research and development of new means of interacting in balance with nature.
Considering that tourists used to come to La Fortuna just to see Arenal Volcano, the existence of Arenal Adventure World has a direct impact on the amount of time that tourists stay in La Fortuna; tourists now spend nearly half a day of their vacation in the simplest of our tours and those who buy more than one tour in our park invest nearly a whole day of their vacation.
We are working hard with all our resources and bank loans to establish a solid enterprise that lives the responsibility of maintaining, preserving, and restoring the environment and its atmosphere. Our business is committed to giving humanity a respite in ecological conservation, preserving flora and fauna in completely natural environments, protecting aquifers, and making our property a natural air purifier to the extent circumstances allow.
We are supporting the Maleku community so that their cultural setting does not disappear, preserving their existence as an indigenous ethnic group. As such, we are letting the world become acquainted with their presence in Costa Rica in their pre-Columbian environment. The Maleku people live free of charge in Arenal Adventure World park; handicraft sales are under their complete control and the park does not manage or profit from this activity. In fact, the park supports the Maleku with food and a subsidy of one dollar for each tourist entering the park.
We maintain excellent relationships with different technical colleges of the nation and we support the education of students about to enroll for training in agroecological tourism and similar subjects. In October 2006 we supported seven students from the Osa, Santa Rosa de Pocosol, and Puriscal.
Our values commit us to educate the guides that work for the park. All have been given subsidized transportation and work hours so that they can meet the Costa Rican Tourism Institute's requirements for certification as tour guides; we also support their formal studies and two have completed their secondary schooling.
With the 4S clubs, we have reforested the park with 970 planted trees and we have inventoried the forest and gathered plant and animal taxonomic information.
Arenal Adventure World is a tropical ecology park with 1,384 acres that are being conserved for the future; all the beauty found here is threatened by uncontrolled human exploitation.
