Located within the residential area of Cardiff Hall, in St Ann, Jamaica, the Runaway Bay HEART Hotel and Training Institute has an important role to play in fostering good community relationships and making a positive contribution to the development of the community.

With a robust environmental management system in place, efforts to protect the environment are at the forefront of all operations. These include the use of environmentally friendly chemicals, recycling activities, tree planting, proper management of waste through composting, and implementation of measures to minimize water and energy consumption. Activities such as beach cleanup and community clean up (“trashathons”) are carried out by staff and students at the organization to maintain a clean and safe environment.

Additionally, the organization provides support to the community by employing a significant number of staff residing locally. Furthermore, preference is given to local performers for special events and the purchasing of local food items when possible. The relationship established with the community since the establishment of the hotel in 1986 is one that is mutually beneficial.
