Description of the area:
We are located at the entrance of La Amistad International Park, in the middle of a tropical forest on the banks of the Teribe River in the Talamanca region of Panama. During your visit, you can become acquainted with an interesting portion of the park that has a high diversity of birds and other unique plant and animal species.
Weckso is a territory inhabited by the Naso indigenous people, who have had a kingdom type government for around 3,000 years – a unique system in America. The community and its setting are very attractive to all kinds of visitors.

How to get there:
Nearest international airport: Panama City.
Nearest local airport: in Changuinola, for small aircraft for 40 to 60 passengers.
Travel to Changuinola by air or overland and take a bus or taxi to the Silencio wharf. From there, a boat will take you to the Weckso Lodge via the Changuinola River. The trip to the lodge is upriver and takes approximately one hour, but the return trip is only 20 minutes.

Making a difference:
Ecotourism has been the means by which we are achieving sustainable development.
Community members have received environmental education to learn about the benefits of conservation and its importance and, thanks to ecotourism, they have been able to sell their goods and services. All labor required is provided by community inhabitants.
General rates:
Rates are US$40 per person per night, year-round, and include three meals per day. Taxes of $3.00 per day are also charged.
